Brand New Year, Same Old Genocide. Get Colorado Out Of It!

To: Rep. Lieder, Sen. Kolker, Gov. Polis

From: A verified voter in Littleton, CO

December 30

Brand new year, same genocide — and any continued support for Israel, including at the state level, is completely unacceptable. This is now the third New Year during Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, carried out with U.S. backing and normalized by political and economic partnerships across the country, including here in Colorado. There is no “Happy New Year” in Gaza. While Colorado lawmakers celebrate with warmth, safety, clean water, food, and the certainty of waking up tomorrow, Palestinians face bombardment, starvation, displacement, and death — with no such guarantees. Recent claims by President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu that Hamas “agreed to disarm” under a ceasefire are false and misleading. Reporting by Democracy Now and Drop Site News makes clear that disarmament was not agreed to, but referenced as a topic for future negotiations. Hamas has publicly denied agreeing to disarm, while Israel has repeatedly violated ceasefire terms with continued attacks and civilian killings. These facts directly contradict public statements meant to justify further violence and impunity. Colorado cannot claim neutrality while actively maintaining political and economic ties with Israel. The Colorado–Israel partnership, promoted through entities like the Colorado-Israel Chamber of Commerce, advances trade, delegations, and institutional collaboration that normalize and legitimize a government committing mass atrocities. These partnerships do not reflect Colorado values — they make our state complicit. As your constituent, I demand that you: • Publicly oppose and work to dismantle all Colorado–Israel economic and political partnerships • Reject state funding, delegations, or programs that promote Israel while Palestinians are being starved and killed • Ensure Colorado does not subsidize, endorse, or legitimize crimes against humanity There are no excuses left. Any political, financial, or symbolic support for Israel is a betrayal of your oath and the people you represent. Let me be clear about accountability: we have not forgotten, and we will not vote for Colorado legislators who continue to support or enable this genocide. Your record will follow you. To those Colorado lawmakers who have refused to support Israel, opposed these partnerships, and spoken out against the genocide — thank you. You have our votes and our continued support.
