Prevent Google from implementing anti-consumer app policy

To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine

From: A verified voter in Alexandria, VA

March 4

Google has announced that it will be removing the ability to freely install apps on Android devices in September. Android is among the largest phone OSes and was advertised heavily on the freedom of the user to modify the devices, including custom apps. Google has decided to force this control onto its customers long after it created a space in the mobile market by promising freedom. Companies and organizations that create and distribute internal Android apps will be forced to now submit these to Google, where they will be subjected to a reviews process by a company that clearly acts upon its own whims and to its own benefit. Google must allow for customers to continue to use Android in the way that they paid for, and I urge you to prevent them from attempting to imply this policy change.
