Re: Trump v. United States, No. 23-939

To: Justices Court

From: A constituent in Prescott, AZ

April 23

All historical evidence points to one thing: America was founded to prevent absolute power from residing in any one person. The debates of the Founders, the structure of checks and balances, and the rejection of monarchy all reflect this core principle: the creation of a government where power is limited and everyone is equal under the law. Every branch of government was designed to restrain the others. Power was meant to be distributed and controlled. The Constitution acknowledges that a president can commit crimes—and if so, they can be prosecuted, just like any other citizen. It lays out a process for impeachment and removal, and then explicitly states that the individual remains “liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.” This is the cornerstone of our republic: all American citizens are equally subject to the rule of law. That includes the presidency. To claim that any American can disregard the law of the land would create a class of citizen above the law. The moment we carve out exceptions, we abandon the very foundation on which this nation stands. Please protect our democracy. In this case, Trump is attempting to destroy the Constitution of the United States of America. He is asking the Court to declare that he can act without legal limits—free to ignore the laws of the land and defy the authority of the courts. That is not executive power—it is lawlessness, and it has no place in a constitutional republic. He is trying to rewrite both history and precedent by claiming that prosecution is off the table unless impeachment and conviction come first—something the Constitution does not require and the Senate is no longer capable of delivering. As the last cornerstone of democracy, your responsibility is, sadly, the only hope we have left. If the Court accepts his logic, it would grant him the powers of a dictator and dismantle American democracy. This Court must uphold the Constitution. You are its final guardians. Protect the rule of law. Protect the separation of powers. Protect the American people from the collapse of the system built to serve them. You must directly reject every claim in this case. No version of immunity for criminal acts can be allowed to stand. American democracy is now in your hands. We are counting on you to preserve the Constitution, the rule of law, and the republic for which it stands.
