" Trump is escalating his attacks on Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, posting a lengthy statement a day after falsely claiming she repeatedly asked for a photo with him at the G7. The diplomatic crisis with Italy is growing in real time due to Trump’s erratic outbursts. In his latest post, Trump again asserted that Meloni repeatedly sought a picture with him, claimed she is struggling politically in Italy, criticized her government’s refusal to allow the U.S. to use Italian runways during the Iran conflict, and concluded: “Now… she wants to be friends again in order to get her ‘numbers up.’ No thanks!!!” Let’s cut through the BS and not “both-sides” this psychotic behavior: Trump is clearly lying about this encounter to provide his own motive for the lie. The post comes after Meloni publicly rejected Trump’s earlier claims as “completely fabricated,” saying she was “frankly appalled” and declaring, “Italy and I never beg.” The dispute has already produced diplomatic fallout, with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani canceling his planned June 21–22 trip to Washington following Trump’s remarks.
