Support the Congressional Trade Powers Reform Act of 2026 - Stop Stupid Tariffs

Today, in the wake of more ‘shakedown’ tariffs by Trump, I’m writing to ask you to support and/or co-sponsor and vote yes on Senator Wyden's Congressional Trade Powers Reform Act of 2026. One president should not have unchecked authority to impose 50% tariffs on Canada by dusting off a law from the Great Depression. That's exactly what's happening right now, and it's raising costs for American families and small businesses who had no say in the matter. As you well know, the Constitution gives Congress the power to set tariffs — not the White House. This bill restores that balance by requiring Congressional approval for tariffs under Sections 232, 301, and 201, and by eliminating the obscure Section 338 authority Trump just invoked. I like that it also creates a Joint Committee on Tariffs and Trade to give Congress a real review process before tariffs take effect. These are commonsense guardrails, not partisan obstruction. I urge support for the bill, in order to reclaim the authority the Constitution already gave them. Thank you.
