Block/Vote NO on the CLARITY Act Until Ethics and Law Enforcement Gaps Are Fixed

I’m writing today to urge you to Vote NO on the CLARITY Act in its current form. The bill has real problems that haven't been resolved, and rushing it through before August recess would be a mistake the country will live with for years. The ethics issue alone should give every senator pause. The president's 2025 financial disclosure shows roughly $1.4 billion in crypto-related income. Passing a bill that determines regulatory jurisdiction over the entire digital asset market — without enforceable guardrails on officials profiting from those same assets — is a serious conflict of interest, not a technicality. Senator Warren and Senator Gillibrand are right to demand enforceable ethics language before any floor vote. The compromise currently on the table faces White House resistance, which tells you everything about why it's needed. The law enforcement concerns are equally serious. The National District Attorneys Association has flagged that Section 604 would shield non-custodial software developers from money transmitter obligations, impairing criminal investigations. Senators Warner and Cortez Masto have tied their support to law enforcement sign-off — and that bar hasn't been met. If failure means waiting until 2030 for market structure legislation, the answer is to fix the bill, not ignore the problems. A flawed framework rushed into law is worse than no framework at all.
