Oppose recess appointments

Tonight I'm writing to express my strong opposition to the recess appointments demanded by Donald Trump for his next term. Requiring Senate confirmation of presidential nominees is a way to keep presidential power in check. You, as my elected representative in the Senate, must guard against the appointment of unqualified or corrupt personnel. The Senate must be allowed to question or object to Trump's selections. Reinstating recess appointments would negate one of the Senate's main roles in governance. Do not abdicate this responsibility and cede the power afforded to you to the executive branch. Accepting recess appointments would be a major blow to our system of checks and balances.
