While I fully understand that nothing will be done about this, I feel compelled to let all 3 of you know my feelings on this subject.
There are no words that adequately describe my outrage and disgust at watching President Trump holding a political campaign event at the White House...the people's house. No other president in history has done this because it has always been considered a violation of ethics, norms, if not the law. Every other administration official and staffer violated the law, the Hatch Act, to assist him in putting on this spectacle. The entire event had very scary similarities to what happens in countries with authoritarian leaders. Not to mention how much of the taxpayer dollars went to pay for it. I can only imagine how much outrage we would have seen from the Republican party if Barack Obama had done something like this.
People like me, all over America, are sick and tired of watching this President and his administration repeatedly violate the law and accepted ethics. They thumb their nose at the Constitution, the rule of law, and the Congressional powers of oversight on the Executive branch on a regular basis. And, make no mistake, we will be holding the Republican party accountable for this when we complete our ballots on November 3. We elected all of you to serve the needs of your constituents, not the President's whims. You must do better!
