GET BRAD LANDER OUT OF FEDERAL CUSTODY NOW AFTER HIS ILLEGAL ARREST

To: Sen. Parker, Gov. Hochul, Assembly Member Bichotte Hermelyn

From: A verified voter in Brooklyn, NY

June 17

Investigate unconstitutional arrest of Comptroller Lander, uphold civil liberties I am appalled by the recent actions of masked federal agents who arrested my duly elected NYC comptroller Brad Lander for asking masked agents to present judicial warrant, which is a legal right everyone in this country has. This blatant disregard for due process is unacceptable in a nation built on the principles of justice and accountability. The fact that Lander was merely observing immigration court proceedings when he was forcibly detained raises serious concerns about overreach and intimidation tactics by law enforcement. No citizen should face arrest for simply requesting to see a warrant, which is a basic constitutional right. I urge a thorough and transparent investigation into this incident and for all city, state, and federal officials to get him out of federal detention NOW. Those responsible for violating his civil liberties and those of everyone across thennarion must be held accountable. As public servants, you have a duty to protect the rights of all Americans, including the right to freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures. This disturbing event underscores the urgent need for immigration reform that upholds human rights and treats all individuals with dignity and respect. We cannot allow such heavy-handed tactics to continue unchecked. I implore you to take decisive action to address this injustice and safeguard the liberties enshrined in our nation's founding ideals.
