Maintain vital funding for global HIV/AIDS programs

Funding for PEPFAR (the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) is crucial to combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic and saving millions of lives globally. Some of the 20 million people we threw off their lifesaving medication will find other sources, but many won't. And every day, 1,400 babies will be born with HIV who would otherwise be HIV-free if we hadn't frozen the programs meant to help their mothers. Cutting PEPFAR's budget would have devastating consequences, undoing years of progress and depriving vulnerable populations of life-saving treatment and prevention services. As a nation committed to human rights and global health security, it is imperative that we maintain robust funding for this vital program. Continued investment in PEPFAR aligns with our values of compassion, equality, and leadership in addressing one of the world's most pressing public health challenges.
