I’m writing to express my deep disappointment that you have chosen to vote Yes on advancing Sen Markwayne Mullin’s DHS nomination out of committee. The fact that he has repeatedly and disingenuously misrepresented both his military experience and possibly his Cherokee heritage should have been enough for you to vote No. The fact that Sen Mullin is entirely lacking in both the experience and temperament required for this Cabinet-level position should have been enough for you to vote no. The fact that he tried to justify his pugilistic challenge to a union rep by referring to the near-fatal beating of abolitionist Sen Sumner should have been enough for you to vote no. And yet you voted yes. I urge you to not make these same mistakes again—vote No on confirming Mullin as DHS Secretary!
