Hello,
I am writing to ask you to do something difficult but necessary at the upcoming State of the Union. Do not sit in silence. Do not boycott. I am asking you to speak out and disrupt the speech.
You need to convince your co-representatives to do the same and ignore Hakeem Jeffries. His call for a boycott or silent defiance is not enough. That strategy is a failure of leadership. It ignores the reality of what is happening outside the Capitol walls.
People are in the streets. They are being silenced and murdered. We cannot have our Representatives putting up zero fight and zero opposition while a demented dictator lies to the nation. He will lie about protesters. He will lie about immigrants. He will lie about the left.
The House is the people's house. It should not be silent while people are being kidnapped and killed. We have a pedophile in office and silence normalizes him.
Look at the example of the Ford worker who looked him in the eye. Follow that lead and call him a pedophile protector. That worker showed more courage than the entire Democratic leadership. It is the popular position. It shows actual conviction.
If you sit silently, you are just part of the backdrop for his propaganda. Do not let him use your presence to feign legitimacy. Stand up. Shout him down. Show the country that there is at least one person in that room who will fight for us.
