The President's latest military speech made it clear that he sees the U.S. Army as his domestic police force—a stance that directly violates the spirit and intent of the Posse Comitatus Act and the tradition of civilian control over the military. Furthermore, the presence of a criminally convicted felon in the White House poses an unprecedented challenge to the integrity and credibility of the executive branch. I want to know: Have you contacted your Senate colleagues to stress that this felon in the White House needs to be removed? The very system of checks and balances designed to protect us from tyranny is under attack. I urge you, as my elected representatives sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution, to use every tool at your disposal—legislative oversight, the power of the purse, and all constitutional remedies—to hold the executive branch accountable. This includes: * Vigorously defending the checks and balances against executive overreach. * Codifying democratic norms to prevent the weaponization of government for political retribution. * Taking concrete steps to address the constitutional crisis presented by the current administration. This moment requires courage and an unwavering commitment to principle over partisanship. The inaction of our senators and representatives in the face of this existential threat is a dereliction of duty. If you will not take action to defend the Constitution and our democracy now, you need to step down. Consider how you would be reacting if there was a democrat in office doing what Donald Trump is doing. I expect to see evidence of your own urgent and forceful defense of our democracy. Our liberty and the future of our republic depend on your commitment. I await your decisive response and action.
