I am writing as a Pennsylvania constituent to follow up on my prior correspondence regarding the administration’s failure to comply with the statutory deadline to release records related to Jeffrey Epstein.
Congress passed, and the President signed, legislation requiring these materials to be disclosed. That deadline has now passed without compliance or a clear public explanation. This is not a discretionary matter. It is a direct test of whether the executive branch is obligated to follow laws enacted by Congress.
For Pennsylvania’s Senators, this raises a fundamental separation-of-powers issue. When Congress mandates disclosure and the executive branch delays or ignores that mandate, it weakens Congress itself. If this noncompliance is tolerated, it establishes a precedent that future administrations can selectively disregard congressional oversight whenever transparency becomes politically inconvenient.
This issue is not about speculation or accusations. It is about process, legality, and institutional authority. Will you press the administration to explain, on the record, why the statutory deadline was missed? Will you support compulsory measures — including subpoenas — if voluntary compliance continues to be withheld? And will you support public hearings to examine whether the executive branch is honoring congressional disclosure requirements more broadly?
Pennsylvanians expect their Senators to defend Congress’s constitutional role, regardless of party or administration. Oversight is not optional, and disclosure laws are meaningless if they can be ignored without consequence.
Allowing executive noncompliance to stand unchallenged does lasting damage to the balance of power and public trust. Congress cannot function if its lawful directives are treated as suggestions rather than binding obligations.
I urge you to take concrete oversight action to enforce the law, defend Congress’s authority, and make clear that no administration is above the disclosure requirements set by the legislative branch.
