Oppose the sale of public lands

To: Sen. Risch, Rep. Fulcher, Pres. Trump, Sen. Crapo

From: A constituent in Coeur D Alene, ID

June 19

I am writing to OPPOSE THE SENATE RECONCILIATION BILL and attempts to sell/dispose of public lands across the American West. The budget bill specifies that 250 MILLION ACRES of pristine public land be put up for sale. It would be the largest sale of public land in modern American history. What's more, there will be no hearings and opportunity for input from the public. I can't stress enough the importance of protecting public lands across the West. For starters, selling off these lands will irreparably harm the ecosystem, layoff millions of hard working Americans, destroy millions of years of history, all while creating a domino effect that affects all aspects of life forever. Is that and more really worth it just to make a quick buck? Lands being sold to the highest bidder is a betrayal of the spirit of public land, the character of the West, and how we live. Destroying these public lands will only hurt us and would continue to do so for generations to come. I urge you to not vote for any bill that authorizes the sale of Federal lands without thorough review, environmental assessment, and time for public comment.
