HYPOCRISY. DERELICTION. AND COMPLETE LACK OF MORAL CONVICTION. A GOP TRIFECTA

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Pfluger, Sen. Cruz

From: A verified voter in Mason, TX

February 22

Latest poke in the eye delivered to the Trump administration… The president righteously proclaimed to Greenland on social media that a US hospital ship was on the way to save the population from Denmark’s free-health-care-for-all neglect. The irony. We here in America who had health care ripped away by Republicans appreciate our president’s concern for citizens not his own. But, as he was reminded by the Danes, in Greenland as in Denmark, access to healthcare is free at the point of use. And funded by the taxpayer. The Danish prime minister said she was “happy to live in a country where there is free and equal access to health for all. Where it’s not insurances and wealth that determine whether you get proper treatment.” Snap. There are six hospitals in Greenland serving a population of fewer than 60,000 people. And in early February, the territory’s government signed an agreement with Copenhagen to improve Greenlandic patients’ access to treatment in hospitals in Denmark. Further, on Saturday, Denmark’s military coastguard said it had evacuated a crew member of a US submarine off the coast of Greenland after the sailor requested urgent medical attention. The Danish Joint Arctic Command said on its FB page the crew member had been retrieved by helicopter about 7 nautical miles off the coast of Greenland’s capital, Nuuk, and transferred to a hospital in the city. They probably fixed the crew member’s health issue for free too. So how much is Trump’s performative stunt costing we the people this time? Meanwhile back behind DC’s closed doors we continue to be dismayed at the now apparent to anyone with eyes disconnect between people with power and our system of justice in America. And how this discrepancy is weighted towards the rich and wielded against people without power, who have been abused, subjected to assault, and now abandoned by the same faction that swore justice would be served for them. It’s beyond hypocritical how this same faction is slowly trying to make the case that somehow the actions of Epstein and his collaborators were really not so bad. The under-aged weren’t THAT under-aged. In fact they’re all grown up now so what’s the problem. The escalating attempts to justify, negate, gloss over, minimize and walk past it all as old news are shameful beyond comprehension. So we’ll close with a slip, intentional or not, by a Texas Senator… “During a congressional hearing on the current president’s actions addressing crime in cities — which seems mostly to be insulting large city mayors, ignoring higher-crime areas in red states, and then sending in armed federal officers against the mayors’ wishes — Sen. [Ted] Cruz referred to Sen. Cory Booker’s (D-NJ) plea for Democrats and Republicans to “come together and have bipartisan agreement.” “I think that’s a great idea. We should have bipartisan agreement,” Cruz said. “How about we all come together and say, ‘Let’s stop murder’? How about we all come together and say, ‘Let’s stop rape’? How about we all come together and say, ‘Let’s stop attacking pedophiles’?”” Whoops. No worries. I think y’all pretty much already have.
