Why Are My Tax Dollars Funding Another Nation’s War?

To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

June 4

I am writing to ask why the United States continues sending billions of taxpayer dollars to Israel while so many Americans are struggling with rising costs, housing affordability, healthcare expenses, and crumbling infrastructure here at home. Many of your constituents did not elect you to prioritize the interests of a foreign government over the needs of the American people. Yet Congress continues to approve aid packages and military support that draw our nation deeper into conflicts that many Americans believe are not ours to fight. I want to know where your loyalty and priorities truly lie. Are you representing the people who elected you, or are you representing the interests of well-funded lobbying organizations and foreign policy agendas that do not reflect the wishes of your constituents? Increasingly, voters are paying attention to the influence of political action committees, including AIPAC. Many Americans are growing concerned that elected officials appear more responsive to special interests than to the people they serve. If that perception continues, it will have consequences at the ballot box. I urge you to explain your position clearly. Why should American taxpayers continue funding military operations abroad while pressing needs at home remain unmet? What specific benefits justify this spending for the citizens of your district? As your constituent, I expect transparency, accountability, and a commitment to putting American interests first. I look forward to hearing your response.
