Funding ICE and expanding DHS enforcement continues to bankroll detention, surveillance, and fear-based practices that violate civil and human rights while failing to improve public safety. These agencies have repeatedly operated with insufficient oversight, harming families and eroding trust in communities.
Public dollars should not be used to expand mass detention, raids, or unchecked authority. Instead, resources should support due process, disaster response, cybersecurity, fair immigration courts, legal counsel, and humane, evidence-based alternatives that actually work.
I urge you to oppose any appropriations for ICE and DHS that fund detention or coercive enforcement and to redirect funding toward transparent, accountable programs that protect rights and keep communities safe.
