Support Melt ICE Act (H.R. 7190)

To: Rep. Lieu, Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff

From: A verified voter in Los Angeles, CA

June 5

I am writing to urge you to support the MELT ICE Act and other efforts to fundamentally reform our immigration enforcement system. For too long, ICE has operated with insufficient accountability while separating families, detaining immigrants for prolonged periods, and creating fear in communities across the country. We need an immigration system that respects due process, human rights, and the dignity of every person. The MELT ICE Act would end ICE's detention and surveillance functions and redirect resources toward community-based services that help families thrive. Rather than investing billions more in detention and deportation, Congress should invest in housing, healthcare, legal services, and other supports that strengthen communities. I urge you to cosponsor and support the MELT ICE Act and oppose any legislation that expands ICE's funding, detention capacity, or enforcement powers. Our immigration policies should reflect fairness, compassion, and respect for constitutional rights. Please stand with immigrant families and support a more humane and just approach to immigration.
