Reject immunity for Bayer's cancer-linked Roundup

Drafting legislation that would block lawsuits against Bayer for its herbicide Roundup raises serious concerns about denying justice to those potentially harmed by exposure to glyphosate, the key ingredient which some health authorities consider likely carcinogenic. While the EPA does not currently classify glyphosate as a carcinogen, thousands have alleged that Roundup caused them to develop cancers like non-Hodgkin's lymphoma after repeated contact, resulting in lawsuits that have cost Bayer billions. Shielding the company from further liability would deprive agricultural workers, landscapers and others of their right to seek compensation if they were not properly warned about health risks. Corporations should be held accountable when their products are credibly linked to public harm, not granted legal immunity that places profits over people's wellbeing. I urge you to reject any provisions aiding Bayer's efforts to evade responsibility for cancers potentially tied to Roundup exposure. Protecting public health must take precedence over the interests of a single company fighting lawsuits.
