fix the OBGYN shortage

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Lieu, Sen. Butler

From: A verified voter in Los Angeles, CA

October 30

I am a member of Indivisible Westside Los Angeles and I am contacting you because we have a problem with a lack of OBGYN services in the US and it is dangerous. Please pass the CARE for Moms act, which includes proposed grants for rural obstetric mobile units. Enable Launching mobile OB units to reach underserved areas. Please also expand telehealth to cover areas where gaps exist. This would require partnerships between hospitals in maternal care deserts and hospitals with a decent sized OB-GYN program. Please also extend Medicaid postpartum coverage from 60 days to 12 months. I gave birth almost two years ago and suffered a debilitating injury. I was bedridden for a month. I am lucky to have the financial means and family support needed so that I could recover and also spend time with my baby. So many women don't, and this would be so, so helpful for them. We need to show that we value healthy women and children in this country. Thank you for your time and attention.
