Stop school vouchers

A federal voucher program that was quietly written into law is already setting up a massive diversion of public education funding into private hands. It allows donors to private schools to claim dollar-for-dollar tax credits for funneling money into private school tuition, creating an open-ended pipeline that could cost taxpayers and public schools tens of billions every year. This moment demands a federal response. Senators have introduced the Keep Public Funds in Public Schools Act to repeal this voucher program and stop the damage before it spreads further. The bill would repeal the federal tax credit that drives this voucher program and stop public dollars from being redirected into private school tuition. Instead of strengthening the public schools that serve the overwhelming majority of students, this program pulls federal dollars out of the system and redirects them toward private institutions that are not required to serve every child. We have already seen what happens when this model takes hold. Arizona’s voucher program exploded costs, fueled fraud and abuse, and accelerated public school closures while benefiting families who were already able to afford private education. That is the blueprint now being scaled nationwide. We need to protect our children and our state from these practices. Stop the steal from our schools.and become the first first to outlaw vouchers.
