Legalize and regulate cannabis for public health and equity.
To: Pres. Biden
From: A constituent in Wisconsin Rapids, WI
October 23
The time has come to reevaluate our nation's stance on cannabis prohibition. The consequences of continued criminalization far outweigh any perceived benefits. Prohibiting a substance safer than alcohol or tobacco defies logic, wastes public resources on enforcement, and perpetuates racial disparities in the criminal justice system. Moreover, regulated cannabis markets create age restrictions, testing standards, and tax revenue streams benefiting communities. Looking at the evidence objectively, it is evident that a sensible regulatory approach is vastly preferable to the outdated policy of prohibition. For the sake of public health, civil liberties, and social equity, we urge the passage of laws to tax and regulate the adult use of cannabis.
