I’m absolutely appalled by the recently released National Security Strategy. It is a full capitulation to Putin. Why are we backing away from our longtime European allies? Putin’s aims are not aligned with ours. He oversees an economy that is only size of the Italian economy and an army that is no longer the overwhelming force it once was. He has oil but that is not the important commodity it once was as the world moves away from fossil fuels. Our leadership seems mired in the past putting oil wealth above everything. This is not good policy for the United States. We must reinforce our alliances with Europe, NATO, Japan, etc. Allying ourselves with Russia gets us nothing and makes us subservient to a third rate power. Congress and Democratic leadership need to stand up and loudly oppose this strategy.
