The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is the largest integrated healthcare system in the country, serving over 9.1 million veterans and employing nearly 450,000 people. The proposed H.R. 740, misleadingly called the Veterans Access Act, would dismantle the VHA by limiting choices, decreasing coverage, and reducing access to care for veterans. This legislation follows the Project 2025 plan to transform the VHA into an insurer instead of a healthcare provider, diverting crucial federal funds away from veteran care and into the private sector. Rural veterans would be disproportionately impacted by this harmful bill. The VHA must be protected to ensure our nation's veterans receive the high-quality, comprehensive healthcare they have earned through their service. I urge you to oppose H.R. 740 and any efforts to undermine the Veterans Health Administration's ability to provide care for the millions of veterans who rely on it.
