Protect US Citizens' Personal Information

To: Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla, Rep. Thompson

From: A constituent in Woodland, CA

February 8, 2025

The recent reports of the Doge unit led by Elon Musk gaining unauthorized access to sensitive government data systems are deeply concerning. There appears to be a severe lack of oversight and compliance with data protection standards. Musk's team has infiltrated servers containing private information on students, workers, whistleblowers, and millions of Americans' personal health and financial details across multiple federal agencies. This represents a staggering violation of privacy rights on a massive scale. An immediate, independent investigation must be launched to determine the full scope of Doge's powers and any laws or regulations violated through their actions. The integrity of crucial government programs that families rely on for their wellbeing is now in question. Strong measures need to be taken to secure this compromised data and prevent any further breach of confidential records. Robust safeguards must also be implemented to ensure this unprecedented overreach of private citizen access to classified systems can never happen again. Stringent oversight and enforcement of data privacy laws are essential to protect the public's trust. Transparency and accountability are paramount in restoring faith in the sanctity of personal information held by the government.
