Demand Attorney General Bondi Testify Before Congress on Epstein Files

To: Sen. Schiff, Rep. Liccardo, Sen. Padilla

From: A constituent in Menlo Park, CA

December 21

I am writing to urge you to demand that Attorney General Pam Bondi testify before Congress regarding the Justice Department's failure to comply with the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The administration's handling of this legally mandated disclosure represents a serious violation of federal law that requires immediate congressional oversight. The Epstein Files Transparency Act, co-authored by Representatives Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie, required near-complete disclosure of Jeffrey Epstein files by December 19th. The law permits withholding records only if disclosure would imperil criminal investigations, threaten national security, or identify victims. Instead, the Justice Department released a limited and heavily redacted collection that both Democratic and Republican lawmakers agree does not comply with the statute. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche openly acknowledged on Fox News that the department would not meet the Friday deadline, stating they expected to release documents over the following weeks rather than as required by law. The situation deteriorated further when at least 16 files disappeared from the Justice Department's public webpage without explanation on Saturday, including photographs and images. This unexplained removal of already-released materials suggests an active effort to conceal information from the public rather than good faith compliance with transparency requirements. Representative Khanna has stated that Congress is exploring options including impeachment of Justice Department officials, holding them in contempt of Congress, or referring them for prosecution for obstructing justice. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer called this handling possibly one of the biggest cover-ups in American history. Representatives Jamie Raskin and Robert Garcia issued a joint statement accusing the Trump administration of violating federal law while covering up facts about Epstein's decades-long international sex trafficking ring. Attorney General Bondi must testify under oath before Congress to explain why the Justice Department is defying a bipartisan law and what role she played in this decision. The American people deserve answers about who is being protected and why. I urge you to support efforts to compel her testimony and hold the Justice Department accountable for this flagrant violation of federal law.
