Today, the Alt National Park Service broke this news: “Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent granted representatives of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency full access to the federal payment system! This is illegal.” And bit by bit, pages on government websites are disappearing, and references to trans people are being scrubbed. And talks of prison camps for immigrants are now officially on the table. Prison camps. They’ll start with immigrants, yes, then they’ll move on to to trans folk. Then anyone who’s brown. Then anyone who’s Black. Then anyone who dissents. We’ve seen this story before. Oh, but that’s illegal, you might say. Laws mean nothing if no one enforces them. And who’s going to stop them? This country is slipping quickly into fascism, and myself and fellow progressives are wondering, “Where the hell are the Democrats?” We’ve been wondering for a long, long time. The time for bipartisanship and platitudes was gone in 2016, and yet we waited. Then we endured 4 years of Trump. Millions of Americans died (and are still dying) of covid. He stole classified documents. He laid siege on our Capitol. And we waited for Dems to strike back. And we waited. And waited. And waited. For four more years, we waited. Only for Trump to be installed once again. For him to get away with every crime he has ever committed with no consequence. For him to lay waste to this nation and the people YOU serve. For him and his puppet—or is he the puppeteer?—Elon Musk to wreak havoc on our Federal Service and federal technological infrastructure. And… Here. We. Are. FIGHT BACK. FIGHT DIRTY. FIGHT FOR US. OUR LIVES DEPEND ON IT.   Obstruct everything Trump does. And get that asshole Elon OUT. He’s picking through the US Federal Treasury as I write this message. GET HIM OUT. NOW.
