Preserve public media funding for accessible quality programming

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Fletcher, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Sugar Land, TX

July 15

The proposed cuts to federal funding for public media outlets like PBS and NPR would be devastating. These vital services provide educational programming, unbiased journalism, and enriching content that benefits millions of Americans, especially in rural and underserved areas. Stripping over $500 million per year in funding jeopardizes the survival of local stations nationwide. Public media is an essential part of our nation's fabric, promoting civic engagement, early childhood education, and giving a platform to diverse voices and perspectives. Losing this funding undermines democracy and access to trustworthy information. I urge you to protect this funding and ensure public media can continue serving communities across the country. The public airwaves must be preserved as an independent source of quality programming, not compromised by budgetary politics. Support this long-standing investment in education, culture, and journalism that strengthens society.
