AEP wants to kick Ohioans while they're down

To: Gov. DeWine, Sen. Schaffer, Rep. Claggett

From: A verified voter in Reynoldsburg, OH

November 12

AEP is once again trying to file for another rate hike. They already hiked prices in 2025 causing the average electric bill in Ohio to rise $27 in June. Come August, AEP was posting record profits. This is unacceptable. The rate increases are only to line AEP's pockets, not because energy generation costs are going up (despite the Trump administration's best efforts to increase costs). You must tell AEP "no." If anything, they should be lowering costs to help make ends meet for Ohioans. AI data centers compound this issue, but big tech companies should be paying for their own electricity. The citizens shouldn't be forced to subsidize them as yet another form of corporate welfare. Please help us.
