Stop RFK's Autism Registry

To: Rep. Lieu, Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla

From: A verified voter in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

May 8

Please take action to stop Robert Kennedy's horrible effort to create a national autism registry. This is a terrible invasion of privacy, and should be stopped just on that basis. But it is far more dangerous than just that. Creating a database of people with a specific disability will inevitably lead to bad consequences. There are true eugenicists in the administration, and I fear they will use this data to do terrible things. They may denaturalize and deport autistic non-citizens. They may move to move autistic to special "treatment centers", or force experimental treatment on them to "cure" their autism. This may sound alarmist, but I cannot think of a benign reason for creating this kind of registry. What I am specifically asking you to do is to write or sponsor legislation to stop this madness, and then work to get Republican co-sponsors, and bring it to a vote. Even Republicans have friends and family members on the spectrum, and I would hope enough of them would be horrified at this to be able to stop it.
