The apparent plan by Republican politicians to gerrymander district maps in Ohio and Texas in order to secure a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives is a direct assault on democratic principles. Gerrymandering is a corrupt practice that rigs elections and silences the voices of millions of voters. It is an authoritarian tactic to entrench minority rule against the will of the people. Fair, competitive elections are the foundation of any true democracy. This reported scheme by power-hungry politicians to manipulate district boundaries for their own partisan advantage represents a disturbing deterioration of democratic norms and must be condemned. The people deserve to choose their representatives freely, not have representatives choose their voters through gerrymandering tricks. I urge you to take a strong public stand against this anti-democratic gerrymandering plot and fight to uphold the sacred principle of one person, one vote.
