Support the Protect America’s Workforce Act
To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
December 12
I’m writing as your constituent to express strong support for the bill recently passed by the House of Representatives that would nullify President Trump’s anti-union executive order and restore collective bargaining rights to hundreds of thousands of federal employees.
On December 11, 2025, the House voted 231-195 to pass legislation that would overturn an executive order issued earlier this year that stripped collective bargaining rights from an estimated 600,000 to 1 million federal workers, including employees in agencies like the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Defense. This rare bipartisan effort included nearly two dozen House Republicans joining all Democrats in support of restoring these fundamental workplace rights.
Filing collective bargaining rights away from public servants undermines worker dignity, fair treatment, and the ability of federal employees to advocate for safe and equitable working conditions. These employees perform essential services like administering Social Security benefits, supporting veterans, protecting public health, and maintaining national security. They deserve a voice in their workplaces and the protections that come with union representation, just as workers in the private sector enjoy.
By supporting this bill (including the Protect America’s Workforce Act or its equivalent), you would be standing up for respect, fairness, and worker representation in the federal workforce. In doing so, you would also demonstrate that government leaders should be held accountable for policies that affect millions of Americans’ livelihoods and working conditions.
I urge you to support and vote for this legislation when it comes before the Senate so that federal employees can have their collective bargaining rights fully restored. Your leadership on this issue will send a clear message that workers — both public and private — are valued and deserve equitable treatment under the law.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter and for your service to our state.
