I am alarmed by Trump impounding support for Ukraine and now stopping the sharing of military intelligence. This reckless behavior aids Russia and will cost Ukrainian lives. European leaders have publicly voiced their concerns, and it is past time for Iowa’s representatives to do more than issue statements.
I appreciate your words on the matter, but surely you realize that at this critical moment, words alone mean nothing. Expressing concern and disappointment may signal where you stand to your colleagues, but it does nothing to protect Ukraine or counter Russian aggression.
As an Iowa representative, you have tools at your disposal:
Use subpoena power.
Call witnesses for questioning.
Make criminal and judicial referrals.
Speak out with more vehemence and moral clarity.
We need action. GOP members of Congress have been too cowardly, too afraid of Trump’s threats, to stand up for what is right. But consider this—Ukraine’s soldiers are putting their lives on the line. If they can fight and die for their country, you can certainly find the courage to act.
Failure to act only helps Russia. Surely that is not your intention?
Please respond and tell me what you will actually do. Words are not enough. Do more now.
