Vote AGAINST Todd Blanche
To: Sen. Cornyn
From: A constituent in Dallas, TX
August 5
Senator Cornyn
As a departing Senator, you have a wonderful opportunity to exert your values and vote against the appointment of Todd Blanche as Attorney General. A founding principle of this country is having an independent judiciary. The appointment of the President’s personal lawyer to subvert this, and do the president’s bidding, is anathema to this principle. A clear example is the current situation between the President and Jeanine Porto, who is standing on principle and refusing to pursue an unjust indictment against an innocent tourist. We can also look back at history, at the actions of Nixon and The "Saturday Night Massacre" of October 20, 1973, when President Richard Nixon ordered the dismissal of special prosecutor Archibald Cox, and Attorney General Elliot Richardson and Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus resigned rather than comply. I implore Senator Cornyn to do the right thing and vote against the nomination of Todd Blanche for Attorney General.
