I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to safeguard the integrity of the 2026 midterm elections. Recent developments suggest structural vulnerabilities that could undermine free and fair elections in our democracy. On January 28, 2026, the FBI raided the Fulton County Election Hub and seized approximately 700 boxes of 2020 election materials. This raid raises serious concerns. The warrant was filed by a U.S. Attorney from Missouri rather than Georgia, and DNI Tulsi Gabbard was reportedly present at the scene despite having no domestic law enforcement authority. FBI Atlanta SAC Paul Brown was allegedly fired shortly before the raid. I am particularly concerned about a whistleblower complaint that has been suppressed for nine months and withheld from Congress. This complaint is represented by Andrew Bakaj, who previously represented the whistleblower in Trump's first impeachment, and allegedly implicates ODNI leadership. Congress has a constitutional duty to receive and investigate such complaints. Executive Order 13848 grants sweeping emergency powers to declare foreign election interference based on broad criteria including "unauthorized access" to election infrastructure or anything that "undermines public confidence." These vague standards could be exploited to justify federal seizure of voting equipment in counties like Fulton, Maricopa, Wayne, and Philadelphia, potentially freezing vote counts and preventing certification. I urge you to take three specific actions: First, demand that the Inspector General immediately release the suppressed whistleblower complaint to Congress. Second, introduce or support legislation to clarify and limit the domestic application of Executive Order 13848. Third, conduct oversight hearings on the Fulton County raid and DNI Gabbard's presence at a domestic law enforcement operation. Our democracy depends on transparent, secure elections free from executive overreach. I am counting on you to protect every citizen's fundamental right to vote and have that vote counted fairly.
