I write to you today out of deep concern over the contradiction between claiming to be “pro-life” and supporting the so-called Big Beautiful Bill—legislation that proposes deep cuts to food stamps (SNAP), Medicaid, and housing assistance.
If we truly value life, that commitment must extend beyond the womb. Cutting essential programs that feed hungry children, care for vulnerable families, and keep roofs over heads is not “pro-life”—it is profoundly anti-life.
We can't claim moral high ground while turning our backs on the very supports that give struggling Americans a chance at health, stability, and dignity. A consistent pro-life ethic must include protecting the most vulnerable among us at every stage of life.
Let us not be swayed by rhetoric that sounds good but harms those most in need. True compassion demands both integrity and action.
