This is a constitutional emergency.
El Salvador is refusing to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is not only refusing to bring him home—he is brazenly lying about the Supreme Court ruling that ordered his return.
If a court order from the highest court in the land can be ignored, then we no longer live under the rule of law.
No habeas corpus.
No judicial authority.
No accountability.
This is not leadership. It’s lawless authoritarianism.
Now Trump is publicly entertaining the idea of sending U.S. citizens to El Salvador—an outrageous and dystopian proposal that violates every principle of citizenship, due process, and human rights. The very idea of deporting American citizens to foreign prisons is not only unconstitutional—it’s unconscionable.
We must also decry the recent arrest of Mohsen Mahdawi, a legal permanent resident of this country, who was taken into custody while in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen. This is a man who followed the law, contributed to our country, and was working toward full citizenship—only to be treated like a criminal for it.
What message does this send to those who believe in the American promise?
If this is allowed to stand, who will be next?
Congress must act. The courts must act. The people must speak.
This cannot wait.
You must stop this.
