Please oppose the SCREEN Act

To: Rep. Elfreth, Sen. Alsobrooks, Sen. Van Hollen

From: A verified voter in Millersville, MD

August 4

I’m writing today because I just learned of the SCREEN Act, which would require websites to institute full age verification processes if their content could be inappropriate for children. This is a gross overreach of government that would do nothing to meaningfully protect children while censoring lawful speech, unduly burdening internet businesses, and destroying what is left of internet privacy for Americans. The UK has already adopted something similar and it’s turned their internet landscape into a dystopian mess. Please do not support this bill, and encourage your colleagues to oppose it as well.
