Resolve constitutional ambiguity by publishing Equal Rights Amendment
To: Pres. Biden
From: A constituent in Weaverville, NC
November 25
Before you leave office in January 2025, I am respectfully asking you to order the ERA be published in the United States Constitution. As President, you have the authority to fulfill this overdue demand for equality and human rights by recognizing the ERA's successful ratification. With approval from two-thirds of Congress and three-fourths of states, the ERA has met all constitutional requirements to be added as the 28th Amendment. Its text clearly states "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex." Publishing the ERA would enshrine gender equality as an explicit, constitutional protection for 51% of the American population - the female majority. After nearly a century of advocacy, the time has come to permanently codify women's equal rights and legal status. I urge you to take this vital step in your remaining tenure.
