We Must Have a New Senate Minority Leader
To: Sen. Murray
From: A constituent in Seattle, WA
March 16
Thank you for your leadership in opposing the Senate Budget resolution. You are an intelligent, compassionate, and stalwart senator. I feel lucky to live in Washington. I know that I can rely on you to listen to your constituents. I am writing with grave concerns about Chuck Schumer as the Minority Leader.
1. He said he was against the resolution and then published an NYT article in favor of the resolution the next day.
2) He did not change his vote because the resolution changed. There wasn't a single concession in it. Now the Majority will continue to legislate without the input or consideration of democrats. 3) It's a terrible bill, as you know. 4) I just read an interview with Senator Schumer where he stated that he is not worried about public outcry because the majority of the messages were from "the right wing." How does that make any kind of sense? 5) We are in a dangerous crisis and he is on a book tour, charging people for tickets, no less! I am a lifelong democrat. I have done hundreds of hours of volunteer work. I have contributed to so many campaigns and causes. I love this country. I stopped my monthly contributions to the DNC. There are so many talented democrats, especially women and BIPOC individuals. The wrong people are in the formal leadership roles and that must change.
