Reject the SAVE Act Voter Suppression Bill

To: Rep. Joyce, Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted

From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH

March 27

Vote no on the SAVE Act when it comes to the Senate floor. This bill is voter suppression disguised as election security, and Trump himself admitted it's designed to guarantee Republican control in the midterms. That's not protecting democracy—that's rigging it. It's already illegal for noncitizens to register and vote in federal elections. Every state requires voters to affirm or verify citizenship when registering. The SAVE Act creates unnecessary barriers that will block eligible Americans from voting. Military families would need new documentation every time they move. Disaster survivors who lost their papers would face additional burdens while rebuilding. Women who changed their names after marriage would need updated documents just to exercise their constitutional right. The racial impact is stark. Citizens of color are three times more likely than white citizens to lack required documents like birth certificates or passports. Two-thirds of Black Americans don't have passports. This isn't about election integrity—it's about making it harder for certain Americans to vote. The GOP is trying to cheat by suppressing turnout among voters they don't want participating. Reject this bill.
