Protect Workers’ Rights and Support Federal Unions & Collective Bargaining

I’m writing to urge you to take immediate action to protect workers’ rights and the ability of unions to represent federal employees fairly and legally. Recent reporting shows the administration and the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) are now in a serious dispute over whether unions can even challenge their removal from federal agencies through the normal administrative process. This is not a technical disagreement—it’s a direct threat to basic workplace rights and due process. The administration is pushing a sweeping effort to decertify or eliminate unions across much of the federal government by claiming “national security” authority, even when the jobs involved have long been treated as standard public service roles with legally protected bargaining rights. When unions are forced out, workers lose a real voice at work—and that affects pay fairness, scheduling, safety, disciplinary protections, and whether employees can report wrongdoing without retaliation. Unions do not exist to create conflict—they exist to create accountability. They help protect employees from abuse, ensure rules are applied consistently, and give workers a structured way to resolve issues without chaos. Taking away collective bargaining doesn’t “streamline government.” It weakens the workforce and increases turnover, stress, and instability. This administration’s actions are harmful to your constituents. Many federal workers live in our communities, raise families here, and keep vital services running. When their rights are attacked, it’s not just a federal issue—it hits local economies and undermines trust in public institutions. I’m asking you to publicly and actively oppose efforts to weaken federal unions and to support legislation and oversight that will: • Protect collective bargaining rights for federal workers • Prevent improper “national security” claims from being used as a weapon to remove lawful union representation • Ensure unions have a fair, enforceable path to challenge decertification or exclusion • Defend due process and whistleblower protections for public servants Please stand up for working people and the rule of law. I strongly urge you to speak out, push for hearings, and take action to stop union-busting tactics that undermine federal workers and the constituents they serve. Thank you for your time and service. I would appreciate a response explaining where you stand on protecting federal workers’ rights and unions.
