Condemn lockout of civil servants from federal data systems

To: Rep. Doggett, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Austin, TX

February 2, 2025

Granting Elon Musk's team at the Office of Personnel Management unfettered access to highly sensitive government databases containing personal details of millions of federal employees raises alarming privacy and security concerns. As a private citizen and tech mogul, Musk should not be privy to such troves of confidential data without robust oversight mechanisms and stringent safeguards. Restricting access of career civil servants while allowing Musk's associates to operate opaquely within critical systems is a severe breach of protocols designed to protect information assets. This egregious lapse in judgment compounds the cybersecurity risks, erodes public trust, and undermines principles of ethical governance. An immediate course correction is imperative to review these reckless measures and reinstate proper access controls aligned with data protection standards.
