Say NO to Nuclear Testing!

To: Sen. Moreno, Rep. Joyce, Sen. Husted

From: A constituent in Concord Township, OH

October 30

Donald Trump’s order for the Pentagon to “match” Russia and China in nuclear weapons testing is reckless, dangerous, and utterly destabilizing. It threatens to shatter more than three decades of global restraint and nuclear stability. The United States has not conducted a full-scale nuclear test since 1992. Neither Russia nor China has resumed testing — and for good reason. The world remembers what nuclear fallout and arms races bring: poisoned lands, shattered communities, and generations of suffering. Trump’s call to restart testing — built on false claims that America is “falling behind” — would undo decades of progress and violate the spirit of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. It would endanger civilians, contaminate land and water, and put Nevada and neighboring states directly at risk, reopening wounds left by the Cold War. Congress must act immediately to block this reckless directive. Support Representative Dina Titus’s pledge to introduce legislation prohibiting any resumption of nuclear testing. Reaffirm that America leads through restraint, responsibility, and alliances — not provocation, pollution, and fear. The world cannot afford another nuclear arms race — and the American people will not accept a president gambling with global survival for political theater.
