Request for Immediate Action to Reopen the Government

To: Rep. Rutherford, Sen. Moody, Sen. Scott

From: A constituent in Jacksonville, FL

October 10, 2025

I am writing to you not only as a constituent of the state of Florida, but also as a proud member of the United States military. As our government remains shut down, I feel compelled to express my concern regarding the growing impact this situation is having on service members, federal employees, and their families. Those who serve—both in uniform and as civilian support personnel—continue to uphold their duties to our nation regardless of political gridlock. However, prolonged shutdowns create uncertainty for pay, essential services, and mission readiness. Many of my colleagues and their families rely on consistent support to meet financial obligations, maintain stability, and continue to perform their duties at the highest level. I respectfully urge you and your colleagues to find a path forward that prioritizes the well-being of the American people, especially those serving to protect it. Political disagreements should never compromise national security or the livelihoods of those dedicated to defending our country. Please take immediate action to reopen the government and ensure that all who serve and support our nation can continue to do so without undue hardship. Thank you for your time, attention, and continued service to the people of Florida.
