Make CEOs pay for their own damn security
To: Gov. Hochul
From: A constituent in Manlius, NY
December 19
Corporate executives have access to immense resources and can afford top-notch private security. It is unreasonable for taxpayer money to fund a special hotline catering exclusively to their safety concerns. Corporations already receive substantial subsidies and tax breaks, and further privileging the elite few over the general public's wellbeing is unacceptable. Public funds would be better allocated towards improving community policing, addressing root causes of violence, and bolstering security measures that benefit all citizens equitably. Prioritizing the affluent at the expense of vulnerable populations only exacerbates societal divides. State resources should serve the collective good rather than providing an elite class with specialized treatment unavailable to most residents. Corporate interests should not supersede the security needs of ordinary New Yorkers.
