Reject threats to independent federal judiciary and rule of law

To: Rep. Stanton

From: A verified voter in Mesa, AZ

March 26

I am writing to express my strong opposition to any efforts to eliminate federal courts. The federal judiciary plays a vital role in our system of checks and balances and maintaining the rule of law. Eliminating courts would undermine the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution and deprive Americans of an essential avenue for protecting their rights. Threats to defund or abolish courts that have ruled against the administration's policies are an unacceptable attack on judicial independence. Federal judges must be able to make rulings based solely on the law and Constitution without fear of retaliation. Attempting to punish courts for unfavorable decisions erodes public faith in our democratic institutions. Instead of lashing out at the judiciary, I urge you to respect the system of co-equal branches of government. While you may disagree with certain rulings, the proper recourse is through the appellate process, not elimination of courts. Our nation's founders established an independent federal judiciary precisely to serve as a check on the other branches and safeguard Americans' freedoms. Preserving this crucial role should be a paramount priority. I strongly encourage you to uphold your oath to defend the Constitution by rejecting any proposals to undermine the federal judiciary through defunding, impeachment of judges over disagreeable rulings, or outright elimination of courts. Protecting our democratic system of checks and balances must take precedence over partisan agendas.
