Private equity firms have been acquiring hospitals and health care facilities at an alarming rate, leading to increased costs and poorer patient care as they prioritize profits over people's well-being. This crisis in our emergency rooms demands immediate action. We urgently need stronger enforcement of existing laws to prevent further consolidation and abusive practices by these firms. Closing tax loopholes that allow them to operate with minimal financial risk is crucial. Transparency around their acquisitions and pricing is also essential to protect patients and rein in predatory behavior. The profit motive is destroying American health care - it's time to put people over profits and hold these corporations accountable.
