The DHS funding deadline is February 13—eleven days away. The House votes Monday to reopen the government.
As your constituent, I am writing to state my position clearly: ICE should be abolished entirely.
I understand you are negotiating accountability measures as a compromise. I support your demands for body cameras, warrant requirements, no masks, end to roving patrols, and independent oversight. These are reasonable, minimum standards.
But I urge you: do not compromise further. The images we have seen—Alex Pretti killed in Minneapolis, peaceful protesters tear-gassed in Portland, a five-year-old arrested while legally pursuing asylum—demonstrate that ICE cannot be reformed through half-measures.
If Republicans refuse your accountability demands, vote NO on DHS funding. Hold the line.
